Sunday yoga outdoors? (5/27)

Okay, so it's Friday afternoon and according to weather.com, it looks like the rain will hold out until Sunday evening. However, it will be a cloudy day this Sunday with temps in high 60s - low 70sF. I am up for a yoga class outdoors if I can gather enough interested people. So here's the deal:

Meeting Place: MacDonald Park parking lot (next to the State Police along the confusing intersection of Rt16 and Rt38 - across from Kappy's) in Medford
Meeting time: 10AM (we will wait for 5 mins. for everyone, then walk to the park)
Bring with you: yoga mat, water, sunscreen, long-sleeve shirt (just in case, it's cool), friends, family, and of course, smiles
Duration: approx. 1 hour or so

If you are unfamiliar with this meeting location, send me an e-mail to sammi@stopdropandyoga.com, and I will provide you directions. Also, if you could sign-up here by leaving a comment that you will be in attendance, that would be extremely helpful to me so I know how many to expect. Just drop a note by selecting the link "comment" below.

Lastly, any suggestions for poses would be helpful. I hope to see you then!

Thanks for those of you who came out for outdoor yoga today! The weather did prevail and it was absolutely gorgeous out! Although only one person signed up (thanks, Chayil!), 11 people were present! That's a great turn-out for our first outdoor practice!

Today, there was really no theme like most of my classes tend to have. Since it was my first time practicing outdoors, I wanted to keep the class format open, so today was a wildcard day. One thing I noticed while practicing outside is the limitations to certain poses we can/cannot do, such as arm balancing poses. Due to the instability of the ground/grass, arm balancing poses would cause too much strain on the wrist to maintain balance. However, standing balancing poses would work!

Since it was my first outdoor yoga class, feedback is extremely helpful! If there is anything in particular you noticed that was fantastic or could be improved in regards to outdoor yoga, please don't hesitate to let me know. With your feedback, the classes only get better!

I will say though savasana outdoors with the birds chirping and the sun shining on you is incomparable!

Thanks to those who came out from other towns for class! I hope to see you all again in the near future. Check back again in a few days for next Sunday's class outside. As always, any suggestions for upcoming classes are welcomed.

Enjoy the long weekend! Cheers!

Hi Sammi:

I just wanted to say thanks again. I loved your class. I think is the first time in my life that I took an exercise class not looking at my watch and praying for it to finish. I REALLY HAD FUN.

THANKS SO MUCH!!!

SEE YOU NEXT SUNDAY

Susana.

PS: Thanks for sharing a coffee with us too.
